Chez Nous
Restaurant's Review:
With its lace curtains,
fresh flowers in anisette bottles,
and Folies Bergère posters,
this intimate restaurant feels closer to
Paris, France, than to Paris, Texas.
Items on the a la carte
dinner menu are decently priced,
but the real bargain is the menu dujour,
which includes a choice of
soup, salad, or pâté;
one of three designated entrees;
and crème caramel,
chocolate mousse,
or brie for dessert.
The main courses might include...
a poisson poivre vert
(fresh fish of the day
with a green-peppercorn sauce)
or a simple but delicious roast chicken.
Chez Nous's friendly French owners
opened their bistro in 1982,
and it hasn't gotten tired yet.
When I asked an Austin foodie friend
how it was doing these days,
she answered,"Shhh!...
Quit telling people
about my favorite place!"
